When the garden beds go quiet for winter, your kitchen counter doesn't have to. With seeds, a
glass mason jar, some water, and the right nutrients, you can grow fresh microgreens, baby
greens, and herbs indoors all season long. You won't need soil, compost or pumps.
Join Garrin of Pixels to Petals for a Learn Wylde workshop on growing food indoors with
hydroponics. You'll learn the Kratky method, a beginner-friendly "set it and forget it" approach.
Plants grow from a still reservoir of nutrient water and drink it down as their roots reach toward
the bottom of the jar. Garrin will walk you through setting up your own hydroponics system, from
choosing a grow medium to mixing nutrients and balancing pH. You'll also learn which plants
thrive indoors and which are better left to the garden.
We'll also cover the problems indoor growers most often run into, like algae taking over a jar,
leggy seedlings, and struggling roots. You'll learn how to prevent and fix them so you can keep
harvesting until it's time to plant outside again in spring.
In this class, you'll:
● Learn how to turn glass mason jars into simple hydroponic growers for microgreens,
baby greens, and herbs
● Understand the Kratky method and why it's ideal for beginners and small spaces
● Discover which plants are best suited for growing hydroponically indoors
● Compare grow mediums and learn which to use for different plants
● Learn how to test and balance pH so your plants can take up nutrients
● Find out how to keep algae out of your jars
● Get troubleshooting tips for common indoor growing problems
